Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services


Services

Rehabilitative mental health services that enable the individual to develop and enhance psychiatric stability, social competencies, personal and emotional adjustment, and independant living and community skills, when these abilities are impaired by the symptoms of mental illness. ARMHS are also appropriate when provided to enable an individual to retain stability and functioning, if the individual would be at risk of significant functional decompensation or more restrictive service settings without these services. ARHMS consist of these components: basic living and social skills; community intervention; and medication education.


Eligibility

To be eligible for ARMHS an individual must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a diagnosis of mental illness.
  • Be diagnosed with a medical condition, such as mental illness or traumatic brain injury, for which ARMHS are needed.
  • Have substantial disablity and functional impairment in three or more of the areas listed in MN statutes (MS 245.462, subd. 11a), so that self-sufficiency is markedly reduced.
  • Has had a recent diagnostic assessment by a qualified professional that documents ARMHS are medically necessary to address indentified disability and functional impairments and individual goals.
  • Must be eligible for Medical Assistance (MA)

How to Apply

Contact the county social services agency where the person with mental retardation or related conditions resides and ask for an MR/RC waiver screening. The county can assist applicants in the application process. County Web Sites
